Is my art collection data private?

Yes. By default every collection is private. Public profiles require an explicit opt-in. Data is hosted in Firebase's Johannesburg data centre (africa-south1), so personal data stays in Africa by default. Attesté is POPIA and GDPR aware.

How does AI Art Identification work?

You photograph an artwork with the Attesté app. Google's latest Gemini vision models analyse the image and return likely artist, medium, period and similar works, with an explicit confidence score. Low-confidence guesses are flagged for human verification.

What is an Attesté Certificate?

A SHA-256 cryptographically-secured provenance certificate. It includes the owner, acquisition date and source, a photograph fingerprint, condition and valuation history, and the chain of custody. The hash is published to an immutable log so tampering is detectable.

Does Attesté authenticate whether an artwork is real?

No. Attesté generates a tamper-proof record of what the owner reported. Authentication is a gallery, auction house or expert's job. You can upload professional authentication documents and attach them to the certificate.

Can Attesté help me document an inherited art collection?

Yes. Attesté's AI Art Scout is especially useful for inheritors: photograph each piece and the app identifies likely artist, medium and period. Upgrade to Premium to unlock the Legacy Vault for preserving stories, artist interviews, and acquisition context across generations.
